Mr. Turonie focuses his practice on municipal law, which involves a large number of areas to include: ordinance creation and enforcement; officer roles, powers and duties; open meetings; public records; ethics; highway maintenance and management; alcoholic beverage licensing; elections; bidding for public works projects; zoning, comprehensive planning and other land use regulation; Board of Review; legal notices; budgets, levies, special charges and special assessments; parliamentary procedure; dogs and animals at large; all-terrain vehicle routes; cemeteries; related special purpose bodies; etc.
Mr. Turonie lived and worked around the state before finally reaching the Wausau area to join Pietz, VanderWaal, Stacker & Rottier, S.C. He is a northern Wisconsin native from Mellen in Ashland County leaving there to complete both his bachelor’s and law degrees at UW-Madison. He then spent two years in La Crosse working for the county’s judges before spending over eight years working for the Wisconsin Towns Association (WTA), which is based in Shawano. WTA is where Mr. Turonie honed his knowledge in municipal law by constantly interacting with government officials from across the entire state.
Mr. Turonie has been a frequent volunteer in local, state and national bar associations. He is currently a member of the Marathon County Bar, State Bar of Wisconsin and the American Bar Association.
